Go for a hike on the Mount Whitney Trail; Wales Lake is a good place to visit for more than one day, Tuttle Creek Campground is a good place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. This is a fine neighborhood for people who like lakes. Arctic Lake is a lake around here; Best Western Frontier Motel is a glorious place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Symmes Creek Campground       is a good campground nearby, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Bishop here. There's great hiking along the Sawtooth Pass Trail; get your pulse rate up on the splendid whitewater of Kern River. A great spot to stop at close to Wales Lake is Sheep Pass; don't leave Wales Lake without first going for a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11. Summer at Wales Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 90's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures                  fall down into the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Wales Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. Having a nice time in the Southern Sierra Nevada is trouble-free. Nearby lakes? Sure, Wallace Lake is near Wales Lake, and a magnificent view of wonderful Mount Barnard is available. At Wales Lake you don’t see much rain; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain; October is when it's the driest.
