If you are traveling by, why not stop by Virginia Lakes. At Virginia Lakes you don’t see much rain; during January this area sees the most snow, and the driest month of the year is October. You get a pleasant sight of Black Mountain from Virginia Lakes, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by June Mountain. | | Lakes Trail is perfect fun, as expected you could also explore Big Valley Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. Throughout the long summer days, highs usually are in the 80's at Virginia Lakes with nighttime lows in the 30's. Gateway Motel is a magnificent choice. Man, is there plenty of fun things to do in the Central Sierra Nevada. Heidelberg Inn is a wonderful spot to get some rest; going for a hike along the John Muir Trail - section 2 will let you
absorb the natural beauty of this region. This lake is one of the great places here in the Central Sierra Nevada. A glorious location to camp here at Virginia Lakes is Saddlebag Campground, and if you've had enough of Virginia
Lakes, Red Lake is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Sawmill Campground, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 12.
