In California there are many beautiful lakes, Virginia Lake is one of them. Virginia Lake is one of the lakes here in the Central Sierra Nevada. The annual rain here at Virginia Lake is about average; most of the rain falls through January, and July meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Deep Creek Trail is always a tremendous adventure.
And if that's not enough, there's plenty more to do right next door to Virginia

Lake. Near Virginia Lake you hit upon the Red Mountain Trail which is a delightful hiking trail, and you can hit the slopes at Sierra Summit close at hand. During the summer highs here at Virginia Lake get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Virginia Lake through the winter commonly fall into the 20's. So many amusing things to do in the Central
Sierra Nevada, not sufficient time. Virginia Lake is a magnificent spot to visit for more than one day, Giagantea Campground is a magnificent spot to camp nearby, and you can go for a hike on the Bobs Flat Trail.
Upper Dinkey Creek Campground is a pleasant local campground, and there are some good whitewater spots on Dinkey Creek. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Central Sierra Nevada. Getting to Ruby Creek from Virginia Lake is simple, and lakes are such peaceful places, why not go to Betty Lake. Bear Mountain is simple to spot from Virginia Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Snowcreek Resort.
This lake is so wonderful. You'll find a striking lake called Mud Lakes near Virginia Lake; Bear Meadow is right here at Virginia Lake.

MORE STUFF NEARBY:

Rainbow Lake
Rainbow lake, as well as numerous other lakes in the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness Area are well worth the moderate effort it takes to visit. Rainbow lake itself is cupped between a low granite ridge and a steeper, curving granite wall. It is a beautifully clear lake populated with large numbers of rainbow trout which I assume gave it the name. Information, registration, and restrictions can all be obtained at the Ranger station located in the town of Prather. We camp at this lake at least twice a year, and it is always one of my favorites....

Sierra Summit is located in the Sierra National Forest, just 65 miles northeast of Fresno at Huntington Lake. The resort offers over 1600 feet of vertical serviced by seven chairlifts and 4 surface lifts with terrain to suit all ability levels. There is slopeside lodging at the Sierra Summit Inn with a full service rental and repair shop, sports shop and snowsports school. Sierra Summit has invested heavily in snow making allowing us to offer consistent snow coverage on most runs all winter long. Jackass's Meadows Campground
12 miles away
I've been to the campground and it is a great area; however, it is NOT an arid environment as the description says.? It is located at over 7000 feet in a forested area.? In addition, there is NO access to Devils Postpile (or the Mammoth area, as is implied by the lodging links). The campground is located at the end of the road and there is no road pass over the Sierra anywhere in this area. This campground is seasonal and is snowed in completely in the winter. ...

Mammoth Pool Reservoir
19 miles away
Too windy. Lake level drops significantly starting in July with severe hazards. Don't waste your time....Myself and my brother have been camping at Wagners Campground at Mammoth Pool Reservoirs since the 70's.  We grew up every summer here and now we have our families and friends that join us every summer.  Its a beautiful, peaceful and fun place to raise your kids on camping.  Boating is great on the lake since you can sneak in some great water for catching some BIG AIR!  with no one on the lake but maybe 1-2 boats.  Its a great place to have your kids learn all the water sports, you don't have to worry about other boaters trying to run them over!!!!! as most lakes are!!!  SEE YA THERE!!!...
