If you need a location to stay The Inn at Truckee is a wonderful choice, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Soda Springs is reasonably near. Good hiking is available along the Glacier Lakes Trail; a perfect location nearby is Upper Jones Valley. Through the months of summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at Upper Lola Montez Lake. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 50's. The wintertime       comes with highs in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Upper Lola Montez Lake temperatures fall to the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Lola Montez Trail; Lower Lola Montez Lake is a nice lake close by. So many fun things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada, not enough time. The peak of Buzzard Roost can be spotted from Upper Lola Montez Lake, and Cold Springs Campground is a pleasant campground nearby.
