Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Coast Ranges. Turtle Lake gets a lot of water; January is the month that gets the most rain while July is usually the driest month. All year is a great time in the Coast Ranges if you go for the outdoors. Looking for something near Turtle Lake? Lost Lake is close by; going for a hike on the Ben Arthur Trail is always a brilliant adventure. This lake is so wonderful.       Camping at Turtle Lake is perfect fun, Fir Cove Campground is a perfect local campground, and don’t forget to visit Pine Flat while you're here at Turtle Lake. There are fine spots to look at along the Ruth Hayfork Trail, and Eel River is a delightful whitewater spot close by. So much cool stuff to do at Turtle Lake, so little time. There is a wonderful hiking trail close to Turtle Lake called the Ben Duncan Mailbox Trail; dry warm beds await you at Best Western                  Humboldt House Inn. All through the summertime, highs usually are in the 80's at Turtle Lake while nighttime lows are generally in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Turtle Lake plunge into the 30's. If you came for an overnight stay Bailey Canyon Campground is a nice place to camp, and in case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Eel River - North Fork.
