This is a great region for folks who like lakes. Hitchcock Lakes is a lake nearby, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11. Through the warm months at Timberline Lake highs are usually in the 90's while night lows are regularly in the 60's. Through the winter the highs are typically in the 50's with temperatures at Timberline Lake dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights. There's       no way anybody can get bored here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. Nearby lakes? Sure, Guitar Lake is in close proximity to Timberline Lake; do take a hike on the Mount Whitney Trail. Timberline Lake gets very little rain; January is when you get the most rain here, and October on the other hand is the driest. Why not camp at Symmes Creek Campground since you're here at Timberline Lake, and if you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling                  on Kern River. So much fun stuff to do in the Southern Sierra Nevada, not enough time. Tuttle Creek Campground is a great local campground, and Timberline Lake is not far at all from Bishop. Comfort Inn Lone Pine is a tremendous place to get some rest; the vista of Mount Hale is wonderful. Timberline Lake is located in the Southern Sierra Nevada. This lake is so wonderful. But wait, there's more to do close to Timberline Lake.
