Beautiful Tamarack Lake has much to offer visitors. This lake is so wonderful. Llewellyn Falls is always fun to check out, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Dodge Ridge if you're here. A good close by hotel is Best Western Topaz Lake Inn; a lake nearby is Whitecliff Lake. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this spot. If you need a place to stay Super 8 Gardnerville is a splendid choice, and get yourself into a kayak and hit West Walker

| | River. Tamarack Lake gets very little precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is July. If you came for an overnight stay Leavitt Meadows Campground is a perfect place to camp; Tamarack Lake is right by the Early Emigrant and Indian Trail. You could also explore Poison Lake while you're here at Tamarack Lake; it's close by, and the Corral Valley Trail offers hiking at its best. | |

Man, is there lots of entertaining stuff to do next to Tamarack Lake. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. All year is a brilliant time in the Central Sierra Nevada if you love the outdoors. A tour to Fly Valley
revitalizes the soul, and Peaceful Pines Campground is a great campground nearby. So many cool things to do here in the Central Sierra Nevada, too good to be true. If the weather is wonderful, you obtain a wonderful vista of
Whitecliff Peak from Tamarack Lake, and there are some delightful whitewater spots on West Walker River. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Tamarack Lake, and the nighttime is somewhat colder of course, frequently in the 50's. Highs
all through the wintertime are commonly in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Tamarack Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Tamarack Lake is in close proximity to Bull Canyon which is absolutely worth checking out, and there's glorious hiking along the Silver King Trail.

Leavitt Lake
 | I spent many a fishing trip at Leavitt Lake. Once everyone got over altitude sickness the fishing was great. Water and the sky clear and blue. Walked in one late winter. It was a challange but worth the adventure. The kids never failed to catch limits and we all enjoyed sharing with the few people who ventured up the hill to fish. Even saw a bear or two off and on. I will have to dig out some pictures and post them.......t them loose as they had a good time, too. Plenty of shoreline access everywhere, and a trail that encircles the lake. When we get back up there, hopefully soon, we hope to either try a small boat or float tubes. Boat wise I would stick with a non powered vessel such as a canoe, or lightweight car topper. No launching, by hand only.
Absolutely gorgeous country. Don't forget to pack the camera. Pacific Crest Trail access nearby, so plenty of hiking available. Didn't see any bears or much wildlife to speak of...nice & quiet & pristine. A real getaway from it all.
I haven't yet, but hope to do eventual hikes to surrounding areas. Should have access & prime vistas of the Emigrant Wilderness back country via the PCT on the western edge of the crest.
Call ahead to the Bridgeport Ranger Station to make sure the road in is open. With all the snow we had this past season the latest I heard would be late July at the earliest. About a 3+ mile ride in from Hwy. 108. Take your time, plenty of ruts in the road.
I have pictures if this site would like to accomodate suc... |
Clark Fork Campground
 | 12 miles away The Clark Fork Campground has a number of nice sites. Most of the campers have trailers or RVs. The campground has pit toilets that are clean and relatively pleasant. There is a shower facility--bring plenty of quarters for your shower. The fishing in the Clark Fork River is good. The Forest Service plants trout every week. There are plenty of nice side creeks such as Cloudburst and Arnot that are good fishing too. The hike up the trail along the upper Clark Fork to the waterfall is a very nice hike. You will enjoy Clark Fork campground. My family for three generations and over 50 years has been camping here.... |
High Emigrant Lake
 | 13 miles away 1 PHOTO I went and was swarmed by literally thousands of mosquitoes.... High Emigrant Lake and the surrounding area is the most beautiful place I believe I have ever visited. I went in late July and there were still snow patches on the mountains. I swam in the lake and it was FREEZING, but refreshing as we stopped by the lake on day 3 out of 7 on our backpacking trip. It is difficult to get to this lake, but it is worth it. I will go back one day. I would live there if I could. The surrounding lakes are nice too. Its a very calming atmosphere on a nice day and there are basically no mosquitoes which is a BIG plus! It is a beautiful place. Go there!... |

The new bathhouse was built for use by RV’ers. There are four private baths each with its own shower, sink and toilet. There is also a laundry room with coin-operated washers and dryers and for the RV groups that want a place to have a pot-luck or to play cards, there is even a clubhouse.
RV’ers also have full access to the other amenities of the Resort, such as, swimming pool, horseshoes, swings, walking paths and more. Of course, the surrounding area allows for a number of outdoor activities such as, fishing, boating , skiing, ATV riding, hiking, snowmobiling, bird w... |
