The beauty of Swamp Lake is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. You could also pop by Gravel Pit Lake while you're here at Swamp Lake; it's nearby, and the snow is great at Dodge Ridge. Swamp Lake is a rather wet place regularly with a great deal of precipitation; January is the wettest month with most rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month. Hiking along the El Capitan Trail is good fun; if you've had enough of Swamp Lake, Laurel Lake
   is nearby.
But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Central Sierra Nevada. Take a hike on the Pilot Ridge Trail; a great nearby hotel is The Ahwahnee. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. If you came to camp Hetch Hetchy Backpackers Campground is a fine place to do that; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Tuolumne River - South Fork.
This lake is so wonderful. If you like skiing, you're

in luck; Badger Pass is in the neighborhood of Swamp Lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Cherry Creek - West Fork offers some wonderful whitewater. Swamp Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Hetch Hetchy Campground is a splendid local campground; a wonderful place to have a look at is Poopenaut Valley. Having a tremendous time in the Central Sierra Nevada is trouble-free. Going for a hike along the Hetch Hetchy Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity, and everybody loves Miguel Meadow.

Rainbow Pool Campground
14 miles away
The pools are a sacred historical Cliff Diving spot more than anything else. The diving area is neglected and needs a cement platform and better egress to prevent slips. Body surfing over the falls is thinkable only in high volume waterflow (spring months), since the sharp ledge below the falls will split your skull open after August/ Sept. Be careful! NO GLASS pack your trash! JB...

I went and was swarmed by literally thousands of mosquitoes....
High Emigrant Lake and the surrounding area is the most beautiful place I believe I have ever visited. I went in late July and there were still snow patches on the mountains. I swam in the lake and it was FREEZING, but refreshing as we stopped by the lake on day 3 out of 7 on our backpacking trip. It is difficult to get to this lake, but it is worth it. I will go back one day. I would live there if I could. The surrounding lakes are nice too. Its a very calming atmosphere on a nice day and there are basically no mosquitoes which is a BIG plus! It is a beautiful place. Go there!...
