Sure, Antelope Creek Lakes is in close proximity to Surprise Lake; a day on the slopes of Mount Shasta is just what you need. Having a good time in the Southern Cascade Range is painless. A wonderful nearby hotel is Dunsmuir Inn & Suites, and Mount Shasta Resort is a pleasant spot to get some rest. High temperatures at Surprise Lake throughout the warm months are in the 80's. Summer night lows drop down to the 40's.       High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Surprise Lake temperatures dip to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. The Southern Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors fun things the Southern Cascade Range has to offer. You could also visit Duck Lake if you're here at Surprise Lake; it's nearby, and if you came for an overnight stay Fowlers Campground                  is a great place to camp. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the area next to Surprise Lake has to offer. Panther Meadows Campground is a perfect local campground, and do take a hike on the Cone Point Trail. You can see Ash Creek Butte from Surprise Lake, and places like Harts Meadow are wonderful to stop by. Around Surprise Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is generally December, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest of the months is July.
