    Go to Sunset Reservoir if you want to go to a nice lake. Sunset Reservoir is regularly a pretty dry site; the month of February is the wettest with most of the rain while July is generally the driest month. Good hiking is available along the Valley Forge Trail, and High Country Camping is a brilliant campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. The Westin Pasadena is a nice place to get some rest.
Looking for something near Sunset Reservoir? Eagle Rock
 
   Reservoir is nearby, and Sunset Reservoir is not far at all from Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Idlehour Trail, and Brookside Golf Course is a splendid golf course nearby. If you need a site to stay Courtyard By Marriott Old Pasadena is a wonderful choice, and if you came for an overnight stay Tom Sawyer Camps is a great site to camp.
That right there is plenty already, but it carries on; Sunset Reservoir
 
               has it all. There's nice hiking along the Mount Wilson Trail; the slopes of Mt Waterman are so inviting noone can resist. At Sunset Reservoir during the summertime months highs are in the 90's. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 60's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Sunset Reservoir temperatures descend to the 40's. You could also stop by Devils Gate Reservoir if you're here at Sunset Reservoir; it's nearby, and a pleasant journey to Rose Bowl is a nice way to spend an afternoon.

Mount Wilson Trail
We hiked this trail on 9/8/07. Total r/t miles were 14 from trailhead to summit of Mt. Wilson. This was a very strenuous day hike. Lots of switchbacks (some great than 45 degrees) with plenty of outlook points to view all the way from downtown LA to OC. Trail conditions were somewhat shaded however, plenty exposure to hot sun in morning and afternoon. Bring lots of water (refill water avail. at top)....

Hi, please take a look at the attached photo.  I took it today in La Jolla Canyon, at the water fall (dry now).  Notice that a large rock appears to be loose and or without support.  It looks like the rock is supporting the trail above.  Someone should take a closer look at that rock.  In heavy rain it could come down.  It looks unstable....
