     This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Summit Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Deep Creek Campground is a perfect place for that; probably you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Pit Four Reservoir is just a very short distance away. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Southern Cascade Range. People from Redding love to come to Summit Lake. But wait, there's more cool stuff to do in the Southern Cascade Range. Chalk Mountain  
   can be spotted from Summit Lake, and you're almost certainly into lakes, Pit Four Reservoir is one of those nearby.
Summit Lake generally gets lots of rainfall; January is when you get the most rain here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Summertime highs at Summit Lake generally tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's while Summit Lake night low temperatures during
 
               the winter are in the 20's. This place is excellent, just look at all the enjoyable stuff to do in the neighborhood of Summit Lake. Hiking along the Rough and Ready Trail is nice fun; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pit River.
The Pacific Crest Trail - section 17 offers hiking at its best, and Pit River is a magnificent whitewater spot close by. Summit Lake is located in the Southern Cascade Range. Summit Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Rim Campground is a fine local campground, and Summit Lake is right by the Coal Mine Trail.
