In California there are many beautiful lakes, Summit Lake is one of them. This lake is so wonderful. On a wonderful day you acquire a vista of Chalk Mountain from Summit Lake; at Summit Lake you always meet someone from Redding. And that's not all there is to do here in the Southern Cascade Range. Near Summit Lake you come across the Coal Mine Trail which is a great hiking trail, and Summit Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Deep Creek Campground

| | is a good local campground. There is a wonderful hiking trail next to Summit Lake called the Pacific Crest Trail - section 17, and a fine location to camp here at Summit Lake is Rim Campground.

All the water falling down from the sky makes Summit Lake a wet site; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. Summit Lake is located in the Southern Cascade Range.
