There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Southern Cascade Range. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. A wonderful site for whitewater paddling next to Summit Lake is Pit River, and do put some time aside to spend at Baker Spring if you're here at Summit Lake. So many exciting things to do in the Southern Cascade Range, not enough time. There is a tremendous hiking trail in the vicinity       of Summit Lake called the Pacific Crest Trail - section 16, and camping at Sandy Campground is always a fine experience. Around Summit Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; throughout the month of January you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is July. Through the long summer days highs here at Summit Lake reach the 90's. During the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's, and night lows                  at Summit Lake throughout the winter ordinarily fall into the 20's. You'll locate a beautiful lake called Baker Lake near Summit Lake; you can go for a hike on the Bunchgrass Trail. Camping is available at Cave Campground, and from Summit Lake you obtain a great view of Signal Butte. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Chaos Crags Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Rose Quartz.
