There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Fordyce Creek. For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Summit Lake get into the 80's; the nighttime is a tad cooler of course, regularly in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Summit Lake temperatures descend       to the 20's. Go for a hike on the Warren Lake Trail, and one of the overriding marks of the surroundings of Summit Lake is Castle Peak. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. If you want a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Summit Lake. Lakes? Sure, Azalea Lake is nearby; Castle Valley is another splendid location to have a look at close by. Be careful coming to Summit Lake, you might not ever want to return back home again.                  A nice location to camp here at Summit Lake is Van Norden Campground; there are some great whitewater spots on Yuba River - South Fork. If you want to stop by some out of the ordinary stuff, stop by Frog Lake Cliff, and an afternoon playing golf at Tahoe Donner Golf Course is always a joy. So much amusing stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada, not sufficient time. There's tremendous hiking along the Lola Montez Trail, and a pleasant spree to Billy Mack Flat is a glorious way to spend an afternoon. This place, the Northern Sierra Nevada, has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff. Really great skiing awaits you at Donner Ski Ranch, and why not camp at Onion Creek Campground if you're here at Summit Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at The Inn At Truckee, and don't leave Summit Lake without first going for a hike along the Mount Lola Trail. Boreal has splendid slopes and a friendly staff; after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Truckee, Ca is a good site to spend a night or two. Summit Lake mostly gets much rainfall; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is July. This lake is so wonderful.
