Through the days of summer at Summit Lake highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Highs all through the winter are generally in the 40's, and night lows during the wintertime for Summit Lake tend to be in the 20's. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express TRUCKEE is a great location to spend a night or two, and Tahoe Donner Golf Course is a fine golf course       close by. And that's not everything you can do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. The Horse Range is a major characteristic of the area around Summit Lake; get your heart beating on the glorious whitewater of Fordyce Creek. And if that's not enough there's a lot more amusing things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Yuba River - South Fork. Just can't get enough of the Northern                  Sierra Nevada. Since you're here at Summit Lake why not visit Castle Valley; do visit Flora Lake, it's a beautiful lake. Summit Lake is a wet site that gets a lot of precipitation; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Boreal if you're here, and if the weather is delightful, you can go for a hike along the Mount Lola Trail. But wait, there's more to do in the vicinity of Summit Lake. If you need a place to stay The Inn at Truckee is a wonderful choice, and gorgeous scenery and great skiing is what you get at Donner Ski Ranch. This lake is so wonderful. The Lola Montez Trail is a pleasant hiking trail close to Summit Lake, and if you're here at Summit Lake, checking out Frog Lake Cliff is a must. A picturesque lake like Azalea Lake next to Summit Lake is a magnificent site to stop at, and since you're here at Summit Lake it's a wonderful idea to pop by Billy Mack Flat. This place, Summit Lake, it truly has so much outdoors exciting stuff. Camping at Van Norden Campground is always a pleasant experience, and going for a hike along the Warren Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood.
