Going for a hike on the Pacific Crest Trail - section 12 is always a good adventure, and you can make out Mount Conness from Steelhead Lake. This is a tremendous vicinity for folks who like lakes. Cascade Lake is a lake around here. There's so much to do here at Steelhead Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Saddlebag Campground is a great location for that. | | splendid; Shamrock Lake is a lake that's near Steelhead Lake; if you come at the right time of year, Tuolumne River offers some good whitewater. All through the summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Steelhead Lake. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Steelhead Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Steelhead Lake is one of the lakes here in the Central Sierra Nevada. | |

Not much rain falls here at Steelhead Lake; January is the month that gets the most snow while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Having a tremendous time at Steelhead Lake is painless. There are great sites
to explore along the John Muir Trail - section 1, and while you're here why not stop at Lundy Pass. That right there is a lot of entertaining things already but it goes on, the Central Sierra Nevada has it all. Near Steelhead Lake
you locate the Gaylor Lakes Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail, and Steelhead Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Sawmill Campground is a great local campground. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a
day to enjoy all the fun stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada. A perfect close by hotel is Yosemite Gateway Motel, and soar down the rapids of Tenaya Creek in a kayak. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Heidelberg
Inn is a wonderful location to spend a night or two, and don't leave Steelhead Lake without first checking out Conness Glacier.
