    Stampede Reservoir is a lake worth visiting. This lake is so wonderful. A day on the slopes of Northstar at Tahoe is just what you need; the Mount Rose Trail offers hiking at its best. A good nearby hotel is Northstar-At-Tahoe, and if you came for an overnight stay Stampede Campground is a delightful location to camp. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Cottonwood Fisherman Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. Davies Creek Campground is a nice local campground,
 
   and since you're here why not stop at Canyon Four. Prosser Creek Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could go to, and why not stop at close by Davies Creek while you're here at Stampede Reservoir. Not much rain falls here at Stampede Reservoir; the month with most of the rain is January, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Stampede Reservoir, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. High temperatures all
 
               through the winter are normally in the 40's; night lows in the 20's for Stampede Reservoir. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Northern Sierra Nevada. The skiing at Tahoe Donner is nice, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Stampede Reservoir; Mount Rose Trail is a brilliant local trail. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Stampede Reservoir. While you're here at Stampede Reservoir, you could also check out picturesque Boca Reservoir, and why not stop at Stampede Dam while you're here.
All year is a delightful time in the Northern Sierra Nevada if you love the outdoors. If you need a place to stay Best Western Truckee Tahoe Inn is a pleasant choice, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Truckee River. Stampede Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the Northern Sierra Nevada.

I was at Independence Lake in July and discovered it is closed for the season 2009-2010.  NV Energy is working on a forest restoration project and closed access to the lake for the public's safty....independence lake is private property. this lake is open to the public from may 31st- sept 30 weather permitting.no access during the winter time....

Recently tried to get to warren lake from the info you have posted frogs lake and coon canyon. Both of these location are not accessible due to private property....
The road to Trailhead 2 is posted at about 2.5 miles as PRIVATE and NO TRESSPASSING with a metal gate across the road....
I and a friend of mine made it to Warren Lake from Boreal and were able to complete the loop around Castle Peak (full 360 degree)in 8 hours,though I must admit it was a steady pace with plenty of gorgeous views along the way....
Warren Lake at its very very best. Taken @ 5am summer of '06....

ya its cool...first time i went there...i had a blast...i guarantee i am coming back ti snowboard...AAA++++...Man, this place is tiny. I like it that way, it's very cozy and inspiring....Boreal is a great little ski area, plenty of fun runs and good snow. It's a lot smaller than most ski areas around here which is of course both good and bad. But for a resort of this size it's perfect....
