South Fork Lakes gets very little precipitation; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and October is when it's the driest. This lake is so       wonderful. Don't leave South Fork Lakes without first going for a hike along the Mount Whitney Trail, and the panorama of Cirque Peak is picturesque. Not far from South Fork Lakes, you'll stumble on Cottonwood Lakes which is a stunning lake, and why not camp at Locust Grove Campground while you're here at South Fork Lakes. So many entertaining things to do in the Southern Sierra Nevada, not enough time. This lake is one of the great places here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to South Fork Lakes. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's while the cold winter nights at South Fork Lakes are in the 20's.
