Lake South America is located in the Southern Sierra Nevada. Caltech Peak is picturesque and can be distinguished from Lake South America; camping is available at Fort Independence Campground. Now, you may imagine that's lots but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. While you're here at Lake South America you can take a hike along the Sawtooth Pass Trail,       and camping at Symmes Creek Campground is always a splendid experience. This lake is so wonderful. Have a magnificent hiking adventure along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11, and if you're hooked on cool geologic highlights try Ericson Crags. Whohoo, so many enjoyable things in one place! The Southern Sierra Nevada is unbeatable!. At Lake South America during the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Lake South America.
