Smith Lake is in the neighborhood of Snake Lake Valley which is positively worth a visit, and there are some brilliant whitewater spots on Indian Creek Feather Tributary. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada. The Cleghorn Bar Trail is a tremendous hiking trail near Smith Lake, and there's whitewater on Feather River - North Fork for all you adrenaline       rush seekers. But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Near Smith Lake you come across the Finger Board Trail which is a great hiking trail; if you came to camp Evergreen Motel and Trailer Park is a glorious spot to do that. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can visit Smith Lake Dam, and why not take a look at nearby Dutch Creek while you're here at Smith Lake. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Smith Lake while nighttime                  lows are frequently in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; overnight lows at Smith Lake all through the winter typically fall into the 20's. Lakes are such calm sites, why not check out Dean Valley Reservoir close to Smith Lake; on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Claremont Trail.
