Smiley Lagoon is better known as Dog Beach, a leash free area where the San Diego River empties into the Pacific. It is located at the north-western boundry of Ocean Beach, a community of San Diego, California.

If you like lakes and you're in this part of California you can check out Smiley Lagoon. The views at Cabrillo National Monument will blow your mind, and dry warm beds await you at Ocean Villa Inn. Presidio Hills Golf Course is a fine golf course close by; there are some great whitewater spots on Los Penasquitos Creek. All through the warm days of summer here at Smiley Lagoon, high temperatures usually reach the 70's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the

| | 60's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 60's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Smiley Lagoon fall into the 40's.
This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Smiley Lagoon has to offer, you can camp at Ocean Experience, and the nice folks of San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos like to hang out close by. Lagoon has to offer. There's so much to do here at Smiley Lagoon that you need to camp here for a while, Campland On The Bay is a glorious spot for that, and if you need a spot to stay Ocean Beach Motel is a brilliant choice. This
lake is so wonderful. A day at Ocean Beach City Beach right next door to Smiley Lagoon is time well spent, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Escondido Creek.
