Smiley Lagoon is better known as Dog Beach, a leash free area where the San Diego River empties into the Pacific. It is located at the north-western boundry of Ocean Beach, a community of San Diego, California.

Smiley Lagoon is a nice lake to visit. But wait, there's more to do in the neighborhood of Smiley Lagoon. You must definitely have a look at lovely Dog Beach if you're here at Smiley Lagoon; after a long day outdoors Ocean Villa Inn is a great site to spend a night or two. Around Smiley Lagoon you don’t get a lot of rainfall; most of the rain falls all through March, and the driest month of the year is July. Camping at Ocean Experience is always a nice experience;

If you like swamps, you're in luck, Famosa Slough is right close by, and Bahia Point is in the vicinity and always brilliant to check out. Cabrillo National Monument is one of the destinations in the neighborhood of Smiley Lagoon that are great to go to, and a good location for whitewater paddling is Los Penasquitos Creek.
