MORE STUFF NEARBY:

Feather River - South Fork
First this run should be considered a Class V run. There are a lot of tricky rapids and a typical class IV boater will find it very challenging. It's not a class IV run. It's remote, the water is cold and the days are typically getting shorter as the season is in late September and early October.

You can easily run it on an afternoon ONLY IF you know the run very well and can run everything with out scouting. For folks who have never seen the run before plan on a long day. Get an early start (10AM) and plan to be on the water until late afternoon.

Carry sleeping bags and warm clothing if you've never done the run before. There have been quite a few epics on this run with people being caught unprepared. The nights are very cold this time of year.

East Meadows Campground - Tahoe National Forest
17 miles away
East Meadows has been a favorite since my first trip. The area is full of natural attractions. A favorite is to go sit in the small waterfalls just a short hike from the campsite. Beaware that because of the elevation, the campground does not open Memorial Day like most (although they will let you make reservations during that weekend), it's usually still covered in snow until the middle of June. However, once you get there you will see what a couple extra weeks of snow will bring in beauty to the surroundings....

Forbes Creek Rocky Ridge - Tahoe National Forest
17 miles away
The best place to have a family reunion!!! We have made a tradition of it! Every year same place same time! LOVE IT! It has a lake near by and penty of bbq pits for the whole camping group whether its 10 of 50! The community campfire and dinnig area makes a great place to catch up with everyone. I just wish I could find a better map!
Thank you!...

Because there is a Shirttail Creek Campground, also in Tahoe National Forest, there should probably be a map shown on this website. The Shirtail Creek Campground is at Sugar Pine Reservoir near Foresthill, close enough to be confusing....
