John Muir Trail - section 1
 | 13 miles away The Bigbee Bottom trail is a 3.8 mile loop trail that takes you into a hardwood forest near the banks of the Black Warrior and Tombigbee Rivers. The trail ranges from easy to moderate and has 2 wildlife food plots for wildlife viewing. The Lower Pool Trail is a 1.6 mile loop trail that also runs through the hardwood forest and gives great views of the lower pool falls. The trail is easy and also has a wildlife food plot for wildlife viewing. Plans are in the works to create a bridge over the gorge to connect the Bigbee Bottom with the Lower Pool trail. Once this happens, the trail will be a combined length of 5.4 miles. Please see link below for more information including maps and photos.

High Emigrant Lake
 | 19 miles away 1 PHOTO I went and was swarmed by literally thousands of mosquitoes.... High Emigrant Lake and the surrounding area is the most beautiful place I believe I have ever visited. I went in late July and there were still snow patches on the mountains. I swam in the lake and it was FREEZING, but refreshing as we stopped by the lake on day 3 out of 7 on our backpacking trip. It is difficult to get to this lake, but it is worth it. I will go back one day. I would live there if I could. The surrounding lakes are nice too. Its a very calming atmosphere on a nice day and there are basically no mosquitoes which is a BIG plus! It is a beautiful place. Go there!... |
