And that's not all the things you can do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Shirley Lake has to offer, you can camp at Splitrock Campground, and you can go for a hike on the Granite Chief Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such calm places, why not stop at Needle Lake right next door to Shirley Lake, and fine hiking is available       along the Painted Rock Trail. A large amount of rainfall falls at Shirley Lake; during January this area sees the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. Summertime highs at Shirley Lake typically tend to be in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Shirley Lake. A great nearby hotel is Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn, and Billys Peak is stunning and                  can be observed from here. Any time is a good time at Shirley Lake if you like the outdoors. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Shirley Lake; Big Spring Trail is a magnificent local trail, and the slopes of Alpine Meadows are so inviting noone can resist. Shirley Lake is located in the Northern Sierra Nevada. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Yuba River - South Fork, and Squaw Valley Lodge is a tremendous place to get some rest. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Truckee River. Take a little tour to Chief Creek since you're here at Shirley Lake, and everybody nearby loves skiing at Squaw Valley. So much amusing stuff in the Northern Sierra Nevada, just striking.
