Shellenbarger Lake

This lake is so wonderful. In the winter you may take a snow mobile ride at Mammoth Snowmobile Adventures, and take a journey to close by Frontier Pack Train and ride a horse. The John Muir Trail - section 2 offers hiking at its best, and if you need a place to stay Double Eagle Resort And Spa is a tremendous choice. The nearby type V+, 32.5-mile-in-distance Devils Postpile Nat'l Monument to Mammoth Pool Reservoir portion of whitewater on San Joaquin River
    - Middle Fork is heaps of fun. This portion of San Joaquin River - Middle Fork is proposed for expert kayak paddlers solely. Always check conditions in advance of a trip whitewater kayaking and rafting in view of the fact that whitewater kayaking and rafting is a perilous activity.

This lake is situated at about 10,000 feet near Hemlock Crossing on upper North Fork San Joaquin River. It's about 3-4 miles of cross country travel in steep terrain and two thousand foot elevation gain from nearest trail. Didn't have a fishing pole, but didn't see any fish rising. - Greg K
