This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Fantail Lake is right next door to Shell Lake, and Shell Lake is near Glacier Canyon which is definitely worth stopping at. Shell Lake gets very little rainfall; most of the snow falls during January, and October on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Yosemite Gateway Motel is a splendid choice; getting to Mine Creek from Shell Lake is simple.
High temperatures

| | at Shell Lake during the long summer days are in the 80's. Summer night lows dip down to the 30's. For the period of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 40's with temperatures at Shell Lake dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. These mountains rock, just explore all the exciting things to do in the Central Sierra Nevada. Get your heart pumping on the wonderful whitewater of Tenaya Creek, and everybody nearby loves skiing at June Mountain. | |

Having a glorious time at Shell Lake is painless. Hiking along the John Muir Trail - section 2 is tremendous fun; Heidelberg Inn is a tremendous place to get some rest.
If you want a fine time in the great outdoors just come on
up to the Central Sierra Nevada. Take a hike on the Gaylor Lakes Trail, and why not camp at Sawmill Campground while you're here at Shell Lake. Shell Lake is a beautiful lake in the Central Sierra Nevada.
This is a delightful
area for people who like lakes. Upper Gaylor Lake is a lake in the vicinity; from Shell Lake you get a glorious view of Gaylor Peak. Have a good hiking adventure along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 12; camping is available at Tioga Campground.
