All year is a great time in the Northern Sierra Nevada if you like the outdoors. Get soaked paddling on Silver Creek - South Fork, and if you've had enough of Shadow Lake, Lake Winifred is close by. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Village at Squaw Valley is a tremendous place to spend a night or two, and hiking along the Loon Lake Trail is splendid fun. This spot is excellent, just explore all the amusing       things to do near Shadow Lake. Float down the rapids of American River - South Fork in a kayak, and Shadow Lake is right by the Highland Trail. This lake is so wonderful. What would winter be without some skiing at Homewood, and camping at Pleasant Boat-In Campground is always a pleasant experience. So many fun things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada, too nice to be true. You could also stop at Forni Lake since you're here at Shadow Lake; it's close                  by, and Squaw Valley Lodge is a wonderful place to get some rest. Shadow Lake is located in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Very delightful scenery and delightful skiing is what you get at Alpine Meadows, and do take a hike on the Red Peak Trail. Shadow Lake gets a large amount of water; through January this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is July. At Shadow Lake you can see Brown Mountain, and camping is available at Wentworth Springs Campground. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Shadow Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's.
