If you are in this part of California make sure to pay a visit to Saunders Lake. Not much rainfall falls here at Saunders Lake; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and June is the month with the least moisture. Be careful coming to Saunders Lake, you might not ever want to go back home again. Going for a hike along the Methuselah Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and a golf course close by is Bishop Country Club.

| | This lake is so wonderful. Shady Rest Trailer Park is a tremendous local campground, and hiking along the Discovery Trail is perfect fun.
There are other locations here than Saunders Lake, for example Klondike Lake, and Devils Postpile National Monument is a very glorious place to have a look at. Limited Bishop is a good site to get some rest.
Summertime highs at Saunders Lake commonly tend to be in the 90's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 50's with temperatures
at Saunders Lake dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. If you came for an overnight stay Brown's Campgrounds is a delightful place to camp; if you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel - Bishop is a splendid choice.

The only way to drop a kayak in Kings river is a very long drive (maybe 4-5 hours) to the west side or the range, or lugging it through the wilderness (over the spine). I think I would have to give a gold medal to anyone who would lug a kayak from Big Trees to Kings river. Just a heads-up.... |

We also have an RV sales office offering Cavco brand Park model cabins for sale. Many spaces available, also spaces on the creek. The mountain view is spectacular. We are located between Taboose and Saw Mill Trail heads. Aberdeen is also in the winter range for the mule deer heard that comes out of Kings Canyon National Park. There are a number of activities available right out of Aberdeen, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, prospecting, or rock hounding with many dirt roads, and trails that one could spend the day on.
We have three campgrounds close by, Goodale campground (BLM) one mile to the west, continue up Goodale rd. Taboose campground (Inyo County) one mile to the north on Tinemaha rd. and Tinemaha campground (Inyo County) four miles to the north, paved access from Fish Springs turn off, then up Tinemaha rd. However Tinemaha rd will continue on to the campground. A fund ride on quads, etc. if you want to come down on Saturdays for a beer or soda, and ... |

I have such fond memories of family trips to Sabrina and camping just up from the lake on the stream side. Don't know what the campground name was or even if it had a name back in thoes days. It was every summer in 1960's. First went there when I was a baby. My parents packed back in several times. Anyway, my Dad died a few months ago and he always said he wanted to go back before he died. I like to think that he is there somewhere fishing that stream by the campground that we all loved so much. Fond Fond memories.... |
