Do stop by Sand Pond while you're in this part of California. Don't leave Sand Pond without first paying a visit to Big Springs, and if you came for an overnight stay Sierra Skies RV Park is a nice place to camp. And that's not all the things you can do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. If the weather is perfect here at Sand Pond, you can go for a hike along the Deer Lake Trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Lavezzola Creek. So many entertaining things

| | in the Northern Sierra Nevada, just incredible. There is a tremendous hiking trail near Sand Pond called the Butcher Ranch Trail; Sierra Buttes can be distinguished from Sand Pond. This lake is so wonderful. The Pacific Crest Trail - section 15 is a fine hiking trail in the vicinity of Sand Pond, and drift down the rapids of Yuba River - North Fork in a kayak. hours it's ordinarily in the 40's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Sand Pond dip into the 20's. The amount of precipitation that falls at Sand Pond
is close to the national average; throughout the month of January you get the most rain around here while July is typically the driest month. You're sure to come across some wonderful folks from Truckee-Grass Valley here, of course
you could also go to Dugan Pond while you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful. Royal Gorge is a very popular ski area in the vicinity; some nearby water includes Church Creek. You'll wish for more hours in a day
to enjoy all the entertaining stuff at Sand Pond. After a long day outdoors Chalet View Lodge is a glorious place to spend a night or two, and camping is available at Sardine Campground. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful.
