The beauty of Ruth Lake is reason enough to stop by. Paddling on Van Duzen River is so much fun, and don't leave Ruth Lake without first going for a hike along the Ruth Hayfork Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Some of the water close by flows, like Hale Creek; there's some out of the ordinary stuff to see at Robert W Matthews Dam in the vicinity of Ruth Lake.
Summertime highs at Ruth Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's, and through the night it cools down

| | to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Ruth Lake are in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Ben Arthur Trail, and Ruth Lake is a great place to camp, Bailey Canyon Campground is a great place. But wait, there's more exciting stuff to do in the Coast Ranges. While you're here at Ruth Lake it's a great idea to take a look at Rainey Glades, and Fir Cove Campground is a brilliant campground | |

Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Coast Ranges. You get a great panorama of Norse Butte from Ruth Lake; a great close by hotel is Best Western Humboldt House Inn. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. Drift down the
rapids of Trinity River - South Fork in a kayak, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Ruth Lake; Rough Gulch Trail is a good local trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the Coast Ranges.
The high level of rainfall
makes Ruth Lake a rather wet place; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is the month with the least moisture.
