Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Coast Ranges. The sight of striking Norse Butte near Ruth Lake is splendid, and a magnificent place for whitewater paddling is Van Duzen River. This lake is so wonderful. If you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Trinity River - South Fork, and a lake nearby is Bear Lake. This lake is so       wonderful. Bailey Canyon Campground is a perfect local campground, and the Ben Arthur Trail offers hiking at its best. If you came for an overnight stay Fir Cove Campground is a perfect place to camp; Robert W Matthews Dam is not far at all from Ruth Lake. This lake is located in the wonderful Coast Ranges. So much enjoyable stuff to do at Ruth Lake, so little time. After a long day outdoors Best Western Humboldt House Inn is a tremendous place to                  spend a night or two, and there's glorious hiking along the Ruth Hayfork Trail. Getting to Hale Creek from Ruth Lake is easy, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Rough Gulch Trail. All year is a delightful time in the Coast Ranges if you like the outdoors. A pleasant spree to Rainey Glades is a splendid way to spend an afternoon, needless to say you could also take a look at Friend Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Summer at Ruth Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows in the 30's for Ruth Lake.
