Don't leave Rock Lake without first going for a hike along the Round Lake Trail, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Truckee-Grass Valley here. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. This is a great vicinity for people who like lakes. Lower Rock Lake is a lake in close proximity; get your heart pumping on the good whitewater of Fordyce Creek. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing       things right next door to Rock Lake. Deer Creek Inn is a wonderful place to get some rest. There are perfect locations to explore along the Bowman Mountain Trail. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Rock Lake has to offer, you can camp at Lindsey Campground. Summer at Rock Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 90's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's while the cold winter nights                  at Rock Lake are in the 20's. At Rock Lake you can make out Bowman Mountain, and you can stay the night at Jackson Creek Campground. You imagine that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. After a long day outdoors Chalet View Lodge is a delightful spot to spend a night or two, and a great spot nearby is Poison Canyon. Gotta ski! Soda Springs is a magnificent site to do that; there's some flowing water nearby, Jackson Creek is a stream you can have a look at during your stay. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool things in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Go for a hike on the Crooked Lakes Trail, and a nice site for whitewater paddling is Yuba River - South Fork. From a rainfall point of view Rock Lake is a quite normal site; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. That right there is a heap of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all.
