The beauty of Rice Lake is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. A brilliant location to have a look at next to Rice Lake is Snow Canyon; if you come at the right time of year, Mokelumne River - North Fork offers some good whitewater. This lake is so wonderful.
