| | I work for the CDF station in Macdoel, CA. My crew and I have constructed a trail from Hwy 97, up to the infamous Pumpkinseed lake. We've worked on the trail construction for 3 seasons now and its pretty much perfected. The trailhead is located on a little turnoff west of hwy 97, about a mile and a half from the base of Butte Valley, up the Mt. Hebron hill. Look for an old billboard with a redwood tree pictured on it on the west side of the HWY about 8 miles south |
of Macdoel. Go up the dirt road about 100 yrds, park on the right of the turnout and you should be able to see the start of the trail.... Its a 750 ft. ascent to the tiny pond... Great views along the way! Says Erik Silva
