     This location, the Central Sierra Nevada, has so much outdoors amusing things. This is a perfect vicinity for folks who like lakes. Chewing Gum Lake is a lake in the vicinity, and hey, Gotta ski right? Bear Valley is a good place to do that. Powell Lake is a wet site that gets a great deal of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is mostly January, that's the one that snows the most; July is the month with the least moisture. If you're interested in  
   hydro structures, you can explore Bear Lake Dam, and get your heart pumping on the magnificent whitewater of Cherry Creek - West Fork.
This lake is so wonderful. Powell Lake really is in the middle of a lovely outdoors paradise. Herring Creek Campground is a perfect campground nearby, and everybody nearby loves skiing at Dodge Ridge. Powell Lake is located in the Central Sierra Nevada.
Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look
 
               at close by Bear Lake, and there's whitewater on Stanislaus River - Middle Fork for all you thrill seekers. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Central Sierra Nevada, not enough time. Stay the night at Mill Campground, and Burst Rock can be seen from Powell Lake. At Powell Lake during the months of summer highs are in the 60's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Powell Lake dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
This lake is so wonderful. The Emigrant Trail is a delightful hiking trail right next door to Powell Lake, and Horse and Cow Meadow is a pleasant place to stretch your legs a bit.
