     You definitely must go for the Coast Ranges. You need to go to Windy Point since you're here at Poonkinny Lake, and you can stay the night at Creekside Cabins and RV Resort. This lake is so wonderful. You get a brilliant sight of Little Chemise Knob from Poonkinny Lake. At Poonkinny Lake through the warm days of summer highs are in the 90's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are usually in the  
   50's; through the dark hours in the winter at Poonkinny Lake temperatures fall to the 30's.
Poonkinny Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; January is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is July. Now, you may feel that's plenty but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Poonkinny Lake. The fine folks of Ukiah like to hang out close by, and a lake close by is Vinton Lake. The Ben Duncan Mailbox Trail is a pleasant
 
               hiking trail in the vicinity of Poonkinny Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Eel River - Middle Fork.
Man, is there lots of amusing things to do in the Coast Ranges. Dry warm beds await you at Lark Motel; Poonkinny Lake is not the only site nearby, Grassy Lake is a nearby lake. Poonkinny Lake is located in the Coast Ranges. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Poonkinny Lake has to offer, you can camp at Quail Meadows RV Campground; Super 8 Willits is a good site to get some rest.
This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a look at nearby Cable Creek if you're here at Poonkinny Lake, and there are some glorious whitewater spots on Eel River.
