A fine nearby hotel is Dunsmuir Travelodge, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Pond Lily Lake; Sisson Calahan National Recreation Trail is a tremendous local trail. Pond Lily Lake gets very little precipitation; through December this area sees the most rain,       and July on the other hand is the driest. If you want a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Pond Lily Lake. Hit the slopes at Mount Shasta in close proximity, and there's wonderful hiking along the Echo Lake Trail. Pond Lily Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Coffee Creek Campground and RV is a good local campground, and Trinity River has a good whitewater paddling spot close by. The warmest time of the year brings highs                  in the 80's to Pond Lily Lake, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Pond Lily Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Highland Lakes; don't miss out on a tour to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area if you're here. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Pond Lily Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Gumboat Campground is a great location for that; why not take a refreshing hike along the Castle Lake Trail.
