The Southern Cascade Range scenery is always beautiful. During the months of summer here at Pit Four Reservoir, high temperatures generally get into the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Pit Four Reservoir. Pit Four Reservoir sees pretty high levels of rainfall; January is when you get the most rain here, and July       is when it's the driest. That right there is lots already, but it keeps on going; Pit Four Reservoir has it all. Camping is available at Rim Campground; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pit River. So much cool stuff in the Southern Cascade Range, just fantastic. A short journey to Mud Spring is always worthwhile, also Pit Four Dam is worth a visit if you're here. This lake is so wonderful.                  Near Pit Four Reservoir you hit upon the Coal Mine Trail which is a great hiking trail, and if you've had enough of Pit Four Reservoir, Summit Lake is nearby. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Southern Cascade Range. A brilliant place to pop by next to Pit Four Reservoir is Malinda Gulch, and going for a hike on the Rough and Ready Trail is always a pleasant adventure. This lake is so wonderful. During your visit to Pit Four Reservoir you'll meet some folks from Redding for sure. A great spot to camp here at Pit Four Reservoir is Deep Creek Campground, obviously you could also take a look at Pit Four Reservoir since you're here; it's not far at all.
