This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart beating on the tremendous whitewater of Yuba River, and if the weather is tremendous, you can go for a hike along the South Yuba Trail. This lake is so wonderful. There is a perfect hiking trail in the vicinity of Pine Grove Reservoir called the Halls Ranch Trail, and there's some flowing                  water close by, Little Shady Creek is a stream you can check out while you're here. At Pine Grove Reservoir through the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Pine Grove Reservoir. All the water falling down from the sky makes Pine Grove Reservoir a wet place; most of the rain falls through January while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. There's so much to do here at Pine Grove Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Hornswaggle Group Campground is a magnificent location for that, and Jones Bar is definitely a great place to check out. Hit the beach if you want, Pine Island Beach is practically right here, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Yuba River - South Fork. So much enjoyable stuff to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada, too great to be true.
