The warmest time of the year at Pika Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's, and the night is somewhat cooler of course, regularly in the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Pika Lake. Now, you may believe that's a lot but there's even more enjoyable things to do here in the Central Sierra Nevada. Near Pika Lake you       find the John Muir Trail - section 2 which is a delightful hiking trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend San Joaquin River - South Fork. This lake is so wonderful. If you haven’t been to Devils Postpile National Monument, you should schedule some time for it if you're here, and everybody close by loves skiing at June Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Snowcreek Resort is a great                  choice, and Pika Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Cold Water Campground is a fine local campground. Pika Lake gets very little rain; most of the rain falls throughout January; the driest of the months is June. And if that's not enough there's plenty more entertaining things to do in the Central Sierra Nevada. On a nice day at Pika Lake you can take a hike along the Sherwin Lakes Trail, and Duck Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out. Dry warm beds await you at Rodeway Inn Sierra Nevada; the Mammoth Rock Trail is a great hiking trail close by. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. There are some great whitewater spots on Mono Creek; Mammoth Mountain is a perfect local ski area.
