    Do stop by Pika Lake while you're in this part of California. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Pika Lake you can take a hike along the Sherwin Lakes Trail, and the John Muir Trail - section 2 is a good hiking trail close by. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. If the weather is great here at Pika Lake, you can go for a hike along the Mammoth Rock Trail; get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Mono Creek.

   Lake is a location that is reasonably waterless frequently; during the month of January you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is June. During the summertime months here at Pika Lake, high temperatures typically get into the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Pika Lake dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. That right there is loads of cool  
               things already but it goes on, the Central Sierra Nevada has it all. If you need a place to stay Snowcreek Resort is a great choice, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Mammoth Mountain.
You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada. Head up to June Mountain and strap some skis to your feet, and a great location for whitewater paddling is San Joaquin River - South Fork. So many fun things to do at Pika Lake, so little time. This lake is so wonderful.
