Going for a hike along the Sisson Calahan National Recreation Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and Gumboat Campground                  is a great local campground. Through the warm months, highs typically are in the 80's at Picayune Lake with nighttime lows in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Picayune Lake temperatures fall to the 20's. Glide down the rapids of Trinity River - East Fork in a kayak; lakes are such serene places, why not visit Upper Gumboot Lake.
