This lake is so wonderful. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Philpot Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 40's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Philpot Lake temperatures plunge to the 30's. That right there is loads already, but it carries on; Philpot Lake has it all. Lakes? Sure, North Yolla Bolly Lake is close at hand; going       for a hike along the Bluford Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Stay the night at Beegum Gorge Campground; since you're here you can take a hike along the Divide Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Cottonwood Creek - Middle Fork; do pay a visit to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area since you're here at Philpot Lake. The amount of precipitation that falls at                  Philpot Lake is close to the national average; January is when you get the most rain here, and July on the other hand is the driest. Philpot Lake is located in the Klamath Mountains. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors exciting stuff the Klamath Mountains has to offer. Basin Gulch Campgrounds is a nice campground nearby; if you come at the right time of year, Beegum Creek offers some wonderful whitewater. From Philpot Lake you acquire a brilliant vista of Knob Peak, and a perfect spot to explore nearby is Spring Gulch. Whohoo, so much enjoyable stuff in one place! The Klamath Mountains is so good!
