You'll meet a lot of people from Truckee-Grass Valley here, and soar down the rapids of Fordyce Creek in a kayak. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Yuba River - South Fork, and what would winter be without some skiing at Royal Gorge. Now, you may think that's heaps but there's even more exciting things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Bowman Mountain       is a peak you can see from Penner Lake, and you can stay the night at Grouse Ridge Campground. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things at Penner Lake. If you need a spot to stay Chalet View Lodge is a pleasant choice. Not far from Penner Lake, you'll find Culbertson Lake which is a scenic lake; going for a hike on the Round Lake Trail is always a fine adventure. This lake is located in the wonderful Northern Sierra Nevada.                  From a precipitation point of view Penner Lake is a rather typical place; January is the wettest month with most rain, and July is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. The Crooked Lakes Trail is a tremendous hiking trail right next door to Penner Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Deer Creek Inn. Lakes are tremendous; Crooked Lakes is a lake that's right next door to Penner Lake, and Penner Lake is near Poison Canyon which is positively worth checking out. And if that's not sufficient there's loads more enjoyable stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Very lovely scenery and pleasant skiing is what you get at Soda Springs; hey, South Fork Canyon Creek is a nice local stream. There's so much to do here at Penner Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Lindsey Campground is a brilliant place for that, and there is a glorious hiking trail nearby called the Bowman Mountain Trail. During the summer months, highs usually are in the 90's at Penner Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's.
