Man, is there plenty of amusing things to do close to Los Penasquitos Lagoon. Cabrillo National Monument is a fine site near Los Penasquitos Lagoon; you can run the rapids of Los Penasquitos Creek. Beaches are wonderful; and Torrey Pines State Beach near Los Penasquitos Lagoon is no exception, and you might also want to pay a visit to Carmel Valley while you're here at Los Penasquitos Lagoon. Los Penasquitos Creek       is a great local stream; California State Parks Rsrvtns is a fine local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Fairbanks Lake is close at hand, and if you like swamps you're in luck, Los Penasquitos Marsh is right nearby. Doubletree Hotel San Diego/Del Mar is a tremendous location to get some rest; a day at Blacks Beach is time well spent. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this spot. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always                  explore nearby San Dieguito Lagoon, and Surf and Turf RV Park is a good campground nearby. An afternoon playing golf at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club is always a bliss, and if you need a place to stay Marriott San Diego Del Mar is a magnificent choice. This lake is so wonderful. This is a popular site for folks from San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos, and Escondido Creek is a delightful whitewater spot nearby. Los Penasquitos Lagoon is pretty arid typically; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month. At Los Penasquitos Lagoon during the summertime months highs are in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's.
