Going for a hike on the Childs Meadows Trail is always a splendid adventure, and Duck Lake is a nearby lake that you could pop by. All year is a perfect time in the Southern Cascade Range if you fancy the outdoors. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Rose Quartz Inn, and
a journey to Growler Hot Spring will fill your spirit with tremendous feelings.

Through the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 50's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Patricia Lake sink into the 30's. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things in the Southern Cascade Range. There's so much to do here

Bailey Creek Cottages is a perfect place to get some rest, and the Growler Trail is a perfect hiking trail nearby.
Visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and there is a delightful hiking trail nearby called the Hanna Trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the Southern Cascade Range.
If only every place had this much outdoors entertaining stuff, what a great planet it would be. If you came to camp Bluff Falls Campground is a magnificent spot to do that, and at Patricia Lake you can see Mount Conard. Patricia Lake is a pretty wet place frequently with much rainfall; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain; July on the other hand is the driest.

Hole in the Ground Campground

I ALSO HAVE GONE CAMPING AT HOLE IN THE GROUND SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL I WOULDNT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY I LOVE IT THERE AND NOW SO DO MY KIDS....
I've been going to hole in the ground, off and on for 40 years. From when I was a kid hiking in the forest, tubing down the creek, swimming in the pools, and fishing for planted trout that the hatchery would toss in the creek. Now it is a restricted salmon run, there is no planters and restrictions on the type of tackle you can use. The fishing was great as a kid. I like how peaceful it is, with the sound of creek and an occasional bluejay chirping. I enjoy cooking on the wood stoves. There are only a hand full left, (what a shame). I will be meeting one of my brothers and dad at the hole in three weeks. My large family with foster children love going to the hole. Some have been before and some will experience it for the first time. **lot of good memories**...

Heart Lake Twin Meadows Trail
Twin Meadows was originally named White Meadows and our old family cabin is the one between the meadows. They ran cattle with T.A.Spencer the first pres. of the Tehama Co. Cattleman's Assoc. The forming of the first association was in response to the loss of grazing rights when the park was formed. The shortage of beef during WW1 prompted Woodrow Wilson to state that if necessary they would raise sheep on the lawn of the White House. ...

Potato Patch Campground
11 miles away
We camp at Potato Patch campground annually with several other families. It is a very nice campground on a beautiful river. There is not a lot to do nearby though and it is a primitive campground with pit toilets and no showers. There are no hookups for RVs, but we tent camp anyway. We mostly play by the river (very cold water). Our attraction is the beauty and the people we camp with. We used to fish, but it is all catch and release. I can definitely recommend it but you have to be looking for a relaxing and beautiful setting and mostly doing not much of anything.

Black Rock Campground
19 miles away
Went fly fishing there for a day, it was great. Were leaving today to go on a camping trip there....Black Rock is a very beautiful place to go visit. The roads are very narrow and there are a lot of cliff sides. My grandfather lived out there for a few years on a ranch which borders the Ishi trail. I have walked the Ishi trail and that is a beautiful experience as well. It runs along a river. The whole drive in there is pretty amazing you can see the valley below plus the Big Black Rock sticking out of the ground it looks more like its own mountain....
