If you arrive after a recent snowfall, the sight of a white-cloaked canyon gorge, with dazzling sunlight reflected by ice crystals hanging from bare branches, will take your breath away. Upon stepping out of your vehicle, your breath will cause steamy vapors to billow around you. With each intake, the sharp scents of winter, the smell of new snow and the tartness of wet rock mixed with damp vegetation, will excite the senses. This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. That right there is lots of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. Good hiking is available along the Green Valley Trail, and a good nearby hotel is Albert Shafsky House Bed And Breakfast. You can run the rapids of American River - North Fork close to Oxbow Reservoir; the good       folks of Truckee-Grass Valley like to hang out nearby. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things in the Northern Sierra Nevada. If you came for an overnight stay Camp Chiquita Campground is a good location to camp, and if you need a place to stay NATIONAL 9 INN is a perfect choice. Go for a hike on the Nevada Point Trail, and why not camp at Ralston Campground while you're here at Oxbow Reservoir. Oxbow Reservoir sees                  pretty high levels of precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain; July meanwhile is the driest month. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable things in close proximity to Oxbow Reservoir. Near Oxbow Reservoir you locate good places like Alabama Bar, and there's whitewater on American River - Middle Fork for all you thrill seekers. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Bake Oven Trail is always a glorious adventure. This lake is so wonderful. The top of Sage Hill is easily distinguished from Oxbow Reservoir; some close by water includes North Fork of Middle Fork American River. At Oxbow Reservoir throughout the summer highs are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's.
