The reservoir is nestled at the bottom of a deep gorge carved by the mixed waters of the Middle Fork of the American and Rubicon rivers. If you arrive after a recent snowfall, the sight of a white-cloaked canyon gorge, with dazzling sunlight reflected by ice crystals hanging from bare branches, will take your breath away. Upon stepping out of your vehicle, your breath will cause steamy vapors to billow around you. With each intake, the sharp scents of winter, the smell of new snow and the tartness of wet rock mixed with damp vegetation, will excite the senses. The view of pretty Sage Hill near Oxbow Reservoir is glorious, and North Fork of Middle Fork American River is right next door to Oxbow Reservoir and is always a joy to explore. You just should go for       the Northern Sierra Nevada. There are some great whitewater spots on American River - North Fork, and there are plenty of people from Truckee-Grass Valley here at Oxbow Reservoir. Oxbow Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the Northern Sierra Nevada. All the water falling down from the sky makes Oxbow Reservoir a wet spot; the month with most of the rain is January, and July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak                  and hit American River - Middle Fork. Summertime highs at Oxbow Reservoir usually tend to be in the 90's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 50's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Oxbow Reservoir plunge into the 30's. This place, Oxbow Reservoir, it absolutely has so much outdoors amusing stuff. Hiking along the Nevada Point Trail is tremendous fun; if you came for an overnight stay Ralston Campground is a nice site to camp. This lake is so wonderful. Alabama Bar is a pleasant site to visit close by; after a long day outdoors Georgetown Hilltop Motel is a nice site to spend a night or two.
