     Nearby lakes? Sure, Buell Reservoir is in close proximity to Ortega Reservoir; going for a hike along the San Ysidro Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. For the period of the months of summer here at Ortega Reservoir, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 60's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Ortega Reservoir. It is very dried  
   up here at Ortega Reservoir regularly; February is the wettest month with most rain, and July is when it's the driest.
If you fancy the outdoors, you'll love Ortega Reservoir. Ortega Hill is a peak you can catch a sight of from Ortega Reservoir, and hey, Garrapata Creek is a tremendous local stream. All the outdoors cool stuff in the Santa Ynez Mountains will keep you coming back over and over. A pleasant site close to Ortega Reservoir is Romero Canyon.
 
               There's so much to do here at Ortega Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Blue Canyon Campground is a nice spot for that. Stay the night at Upper Blue Canyon Campground; Inn on Summer Hill is a nice place to get some rest.
This lake is so wonderful. Why not pop by Loon Point also while you're here, and on a tremendous day you can take a hike along the Blue Canyon Trail. A tour to East Beach in the vicinity of Ortega Reservoir is always a wonderful idea, and after a long day outdoors Montecito Inn is a fine site to spend a night or two. This lake is one of the great places here in the Santa Ynez Mountains.
This lake is so wonderful. You could also stop at Romero Reservoir if you're here at Ortega Reservoir; it's nearby; Ortega Dam is a stunning place, certainly worth a visit. So many exciting things to do here at Ortega Reservoir, too fine to be true. Channel Islands National Park is one of the destinations near Ortega Reservoir that are magnificent to go to. Yeah, come up here to the Santa Ynez Mountains for a tremendous time. While you're here at Ortega Reservoir you can take a hike along the Romero Trail; if you want to hit the beach, West Beach is in the vicinity.

Hi, please take a look at the attached photo.  I took it today in La Jolla Canyon, at the water fall (dry now).  Notice that a large rock appears to be loose and or without support.  It looks like the rock is supporting the trail above.  Someone should take a closer look at that rock.  In heavy rain it could come down.  It looks unstable....
