    Why not stop by Oneida Lake if you're passing through these parts. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Gardisky Lake is around here; Oneida Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Saddlebag Campground is a magnificent local campground. The Gaylor Lakes Trail is a splendid hiking trail next to Oneida Lake, and a good nearby hotel is Yosemite Gateway Motel. This lake is so wonderful. Heidelberg Inn is a good place to get some rest; you should without  
   doubt go to Dore Cliff while you're here.
Around Oneida Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the month with most of the snow is January, and the driest of the months is October. And if that's not enough there's a load more exciting things to do in the Central Sierra Nevada. The summit of Gilcrest Peak can be seen from Oneida Lake, and June Mountain is a tremendous local ski area. This place, Oneida Lake, it completely has so much outdoors enjoyable
 
               stuff. Lundy Lake is a splendid lake near Oneida Lake; get your heart pumping on the nice whitewater of Tenaya Creek.
Now, you may feel that's heaps but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the Central Sierra Nevada. South Fork Mill Creek flows through this area, and going for a hike on the John Muir Trail - section 2 is always a great adventure. There is a delightful hiking trail in the vicinity of Oneida Lake called the Pacific Crest Trail - section 12, and a glorious site to camp here at Oneida Lake is Sawmill Campground. Summer at Oneida Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's with night lows in the 30's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Oneida Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.
Dore Pass is right next door to Oneida Lake and is a glorious spot. Oneida Lake is one of the lakes here in the Central Sierra Nevada.
