without first going for a hike along the Carter Meadow Trail, and there's whitewater on Feather River - North Fork for all you adrenaline rush seekers. All the water falling down from the sky makes Oliver Lake a wet location; January
is the wettest month with most snow; July on the other hand is the driest. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada. Places like Murphy Flat are brilliant to go to, and a pleasant close by hotel is Bailey
Creek Cottages. During the summer at Oliver Lake highs are generally in the 80's while night lows are regularly in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at
Oliver Lake descend into the 20's. This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. After a long day outdoors Best Western Rose Quartz Inn is a fine spot to spend a night or two. Lakes? Sure, Murphy Lake is in the neighborhood.

Potato Patch Campground
 | 17 miles away We camp at Potato Patch campground annually with several other families. It is a very nice campground on a beautiful river. There is not a lot to do nearby though and it is a primitive campground with pit toilets and no showers. There are no hookups for RVs, but we tent camp anyway. We mostly play by the river (very cold water). Our attraction is the beauty and the people we camp with. We used to fish, but it is all catch and release. I can definitely recommend it but you have to be looking for a relaxing and beautiful setting and mostly doing not much of anything. ... |
