Big Cottonwood Meadows is a pleasant place to check out, and a lake nearby is South Fork Lakes. Throughout the warmest time of the year at Muir Lake highs are usually in the 90's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Muir Lake tend to be in the 20's. Muir Lake is       pretty dried up commonly; through the month of January you get the most rain around here; October is when it's the driest. If you want a delightful time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Muir Lake. Why not camp at Locust Grove Campground if you're here at Muir Lake; there's whitewater on Kern River for all you thrill seekers. Don't leave Muir Lake without first going for a hike along the Mount Whitney Trail, and camping is available at Tuttle Creek                  Campground. You simply have to like the Southern Sierra Nevada. There's pleasant hiking along the Pat Keyes Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Hidden Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Lone Pine is a pleasant spot to spend a night or two.
