Willow Creek is a tremendous whitewater spot right next door to Mud Lakes, and Mud Lakes is a pleasant site to visit for more than one day, Upper Chiquito Campground is a pleasant site to camp nearby. And if that's not sufficient, there's lots more to do near Mud Lakes. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Sierra Summit. From a precipitation point       of view Mud Lakes is a reasonably normal place; throughout the month of January you get the most rain around here, and July is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. There are wonderful spots to look at along the Mist Trail, and close by Chiquito Pass is a delightful location to go. Summertime at Mud Lakes arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer night lows descend down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's                  with temperatures at Mud Lakes dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. All the outdoors entertaining stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada will keep you coming back time and again. If you need a place to stay Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite is a perfect choice, and a good spot for whitewater paddling is Merced River - South Fork. Mud Lakes is one of the lakes here in the Central Sierra Nevada. The vista of charming Redtop near Mud Lakes is perfect, and going for a hike on the Clouds Rest Trail is always a tremendous adventure. Badger Pass is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood; if you haven’t been to Yosemite National Park, you should schedule some time for it since you're here. A lake close by is Chiquito Lake, and a great nearby hotel is dnc -- Wawona Hotel. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Central Sierra Nevada. Brophy Meadow is a glorious site here at Mud Lakes; nearby you stumble on the Mono Meadow Trail which is a good hiking trail. If only every location had this much outdoors exciting stuff, what a great planet it would be. Spotted Lakes is a nearby lake that you could go to.
