Mud Lake is a good place of typical precipitation; throughout the month of January you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is July. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Outlet Creek offers some great whitewater; Mud Lake is a pleasant site to visit for more than one day, Willits Koa Kampground is a pleasant site to camp nearby. The warmest time of the year brings       highs in the 60's to Mud Lake while night lows are typically in the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Mud Lake are in the 40's. Orr Hot Springs Resort is a pleasant campground nearby. Lots of people from Ukiah come to Mud Lake; a pleasant nearby hotel is Best Western Willits Inn. And if that's not enough there's a lot more fun things to do in the Coast Ranges. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone                  but if it's for you then we recommend Russian River, and if you need a site to stay Shambhala Ranch - Mendocino Retreat Center is a wonderful choice.
