It's a good windsurfing lake on stormy days although it gets very gusty. The best place to launch is on the east side of the lake. But if you're not windsurfing the west side is a lot nicer and less crowded with lots of big rocks and small scattered beaches. There's a small waterfall on the west side as well just a very short hike up the hill. Cottonwood Creek flows through this vicinity. There's so much to do here at Millerton Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Rocky Point Campground is a nice spot for that. Millerton Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Mono Campground is a good local campground, and if you have time to spare, Yosemite National Park is a national park worth a visit. Millerton Lake gets a large amount of water; January       is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month of the year is July. High temperatures at Millerton Lake throughout the months of summer are in the 80's with night lows in the 40's. During the winter the highs are usually in the 40's, and night lows at Millerton Lake during the wintertime usually sink into the 20's. This place is unbeatable, just check out all the exciting things to do near Millerton Lake. Why not pop by Friant Dam while you're here;                  Hills Cove is nearby and always good to stop at. From Millerton Lake you acquire a perfect sight of Tick-Tack-Toe Hill, and Lost Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Fairfield Inn & Suites Fresno Clovis is a splendid choice. If you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on San Joaquin River; you'll meet a lot of folks from Fresno here. This lake is so wonderful.
